8 Conditions that Make a Difference

Paul Asbell reflects on the “8 conditions that make a difference.” My voice survey results were shocking. PMS was above state average. Example, “Belonging” approx 50% of our students’ results were graphed and faculty decided to meet and come up with action plans. It is on an on going process. Survey will be taken again in the spring. Expectations are we will do better.

Open House – Wednesday, September 19th. Went well. Kathy Litch liked it and thought the format was good. Suggestion was made by Kate Prolman to have name tags for staff. Name tags for parents at school functions may help new parents get to know each other.

PTO President’s Report – Meeting talked about attendance and what is new for fall. Birch Hill will host a forum for Board of Ed candidates. Questions are welcome in advance. Five (5) seats are available. Seven (7) people are running. October 12th at 9:30 a.m. is next PTO Presidents Meeting. Email questions to Helen Honorow.

Email list for PTO – Email list is up to 270 participants. If you know of anyone who wants to be added, please let Helen Honorow know.

Sandwich Board Discussion. Student council was suggested to take charge. Carolyn M. will check into wholesale purchase of sandwich board.

Contract – Still at a stand still. “Work to Rule.” Most likely will not be resolved until after election.

Treasurer Report – Treasurer absent. No report tonight.

Fundraisers:
Spaghetti Supper – The flyer went out. Signs are up and email to Ginny to add to our school announcements. Panera will save bread for us. At 8:55 p.m. we pick up left over bread. No band or chorus. No real entertainment. Helen Honorow will gather CD's from Louise L. and Carolyn M. Carolyn M. will try to get TV to raffle. Louise will do “guess the noodles”, win a prize basket. Volunteer list went around the room.

Dunkin Donuts Fundraiser – The form went out. They are due on Friday October 5th. Order date is Tuesday, October 9th. Delivery is on the 12th or 15th. $4.00 earned per lb. sold.

Box Tops – No box top report tonight. Helen will talk to Dennis Moskowitz.

Restaurant - Carol Pollack will contact restaurants and put together plan for one night out to eat per month!

Target Card Fundraiser - Louise Latvis will pursue Target card fundraiser.

Tags/Necklaces/Key Rings - Carol Pollack will order to sell 36 dog tags, necklaces and key rings to read “Pennichuck”.

School Store - Moving slowly but surely. A new parent Nick Anastasiades offered to build it.

Wish List - Helen Honorow will send out teacher wish list again.

Speaker Series - begins in January. Youth council has been contacted; looking for speaker on bullying.

Website – Looking good! Kathy Litch is working hard to update and make user friendly.

Lowell Devels vs. Monarchs – November 2nd in Lowell. Not a great response last time. Putting it aside for now.
Michelle Capone moves to adjourn. Second by Carolyn Mortellaro.
Respectfully submitted,
Carolyn Mortellaro
